Kimberly (Herman) Bracken

Kimberly (Herman) Bracken

imberly (Herman) Bracken was born to parents Bill and Carol Herman and brother Jason in Ashland, Ohio on July 21, 1978. A 1996 graduate of Loudonville High School and a 2000 graduate of Ashland University, Kim’s work ethic, commitment, and family support have contributed to her success in high school and college.
Kim began pitching at age 8 in the backyard of her Perrysville home with her father. Her dedication and attempt to perfect her technique led to future Thanksgiving and Christmas mornings with her Dad in the LHS gym. The two would complete a pitching workout for an hour followed by a 300 shot basketball workout and 100 free throws. Her driving force was that there may be people with more natural ability, but no one will outwork her.

This work ethic paid off during her freshman year in 1993. She was a member of the Loudonville High School State Championship softball team playing second base. Kim was a four year letter winner in softball earning first team All-Ohio honors in 1996, Ashland-Times Gazette Pitcher of the Year, and Mohican Area Conference Player of the Year.
Over the course of Kim’s basketball career, she earned All-Ohio her junior and senior year, Ashland-Times Gazette Player of the Year her sophomore, junior, and senior years, and Mohican Area Conference Player of the Year her senior season. She holds several Loudonville High School records. She holds the scoring record with a career point total of 1470, career 3 point records with 197, season 3 point record with 78, consecutive free throws with 25, free throw percentage records of a season with 86%, and career free throw percentage with 80.5%. Kim was a scholar athlete for all four years and captain of the basketball team for 3 years.
In additional to the Loudonville High School records, Kim has records that have placed her in state history. She is nineteenth in the state with three pointers for a season, twenty fourth in the state for career three pointers, twentieth in the state for career free throws, three point percentage in a season with 44% placing her at twenty sixth, and consecutive free throws made placing her at twenty second.
After high school graduation, Kim attended Ashland University where she graduated in 2000 with at Bachelors of Science Degree in Education (English Major). During her college years she was a four year letter winner on the softball team. She was a member of the AU softball team with the best record for a season in 1998 with a 51-4 record. She pitched, played first base, and was the lead-off hitter.
Outside of school, Kim has spent 11 years at Ashland High School as an English teacher. Also for 7 years she has coached softball at Ashland High School. She was Ashland-Times Gazette Coach of the year in 2002. She currently gives pitching lessons and coaches her daughter’s T ball team.
Kim is married to Adam Bracken. They are the very proud parents of three daughters: Ava (5), Sydney (4), and Makenna (9 months). Kim is very grateful for all the support over the years from her family, teammates, coaches, players, and parents. She wishes to express a special thank-you to her Mom, Dad, brother, and grandparents for all the encouragement and unwavering support and love throughout her career.
