Fund Raising Efforts for the Sports
Hall of Fame

The fund raising for the Sports HOF is under the direction of Tom Herron. As Chairman, Tom has headed up a program to raise money for the general fund or the Bill Mills Endowed Scholarship Fund. We solicit funds from local companies, businesses, individuals, and past inductees. Each year the annual total raised is around the $5,000 range. All gift are tax deductible.

In past years our fundraisers have included the “Coffee Break” on Interstate 71 and the Girls State Softball Tournament in Ashland. However, the State Tournament has been moved to Akron.

Since the 1994 induction, the Hall of Fame has sponsored the Ashland County High School Girls Softball All-Star Game at Brookside Park in Ashland. The game is played a week after the girls state tournament in completed. The director for our softball game is Nancy Noble.

Our organization has around 30 members that are active and believe in what we are trying to do. It is made up of individuals from all over the county, as well as past Hall of Famers in the area. We are always looking for more people that are interested in sports and growing our organization. We hold the meetings at the Ashland County Historical Society on Center Street in Ashland, which is the home of the Hall of Fame.
