Loudonville started off the season with nine consecutive victories including defeating the defending Division II state champion Akron Hoban. The Ashland-area Division III district was the toughest with strong teams from Hillsdale, Mapleton and Black River.

The State Championship in 1993 was the Lady Redbirds second Final Four appearance in three years. Loudonville pitcher Michelle Gongwer struck out 12 batters to defeat the Mt. Gilead in the semi-final contest. They then went on to beat Colonel Crawford 3-1 in the State Championship at Brookside Park in Ashland.

The parade that followed was the biggest, loudest, noisiest parade in the history of southern Ashland County. The team bus was escorted back to Loudonville after the tournament by area law enforcement, and the parade stretched between four to five miles. It was a tournament and a season that the members of the team and Loudonville won't forget.
